Two teams that will be looking to return to winning ways are clashing on Saturday, when West Brom are hosted by Everton. Everton are coming off a 2-3 loss to Tottenham, which was their first after 2.5 months, or 9 matches in that span. West Brom are also coming off a loss, this time against Crystal Palace by 2-0 at home, as they were too soft and didn’t deserve much more from that match.
Everton (12-7-8) are coming off their 7th loss of the season, as they were defeated by 2-3 in the hands of Tottenham on the road. The home team was superior throughout the whole match, while Everton were simply tragic on the defenseive end. Everton missed their chance to move even closer to the 6th placed Manchester United. They now sit at the 7th spot of the Premier League with 44 points, just 5 points behind United and 10 points behind the top 6 spots that grant entrance to the European competitions next season. Everton were defeated for the first time since mid-January, as they had a 9 match undefeated run since then (6-0-3). They are always strong at home (8-1-4), coming off 4 consecutive wins with 15 goals scored against just 3 conceded.
On the other hand, West Brom (11-9-7) are coming off a very mediocre performance, as they fell to Crystal Palace by 2-0 at home. The visitors were much more determined to take a result from that match, and after a slow first half, they took the lead at the 55th minute and sealed the win with a 2nd goals at the 84th. Coach Pulis said that he won’t judge his players on a single bad match, as they were running a 5-match undefeated run prior to the loss (3-0-2). That loss is not capable of spoiling West Brom’s solid run at the league so far, as they are sitting at the 8th spot of the Premier League, just 4 points behind their upcoming opponents. They are not the easiest team to deal with on the road (3-5-5), but they have lost to all the teams that are placed above them in the standings so far.
