Dortmund is enjoying a sublime season so far, having succeeded in all the competitions they have participated. They are coming off a great away win in the Champions League that saw them through to the next round as winners of their group. They are also leading the Bundesliga, and this Saturday they will play host to Werder Bremen. Werder Bremen snap out of their undefeated streak last week, but this is going to be a really tough match between the two. Games between these two sides usually feature a lot of goals so we just might have another goal-fest in our hands.

Dortmund (11-0-3) had a really easy job in their away match against Monaco on Wednesday, for the final match-day of the Champions League. They were excellent in both halves of that match, especially the first, and took an early lead at the 15th minute with Guerreiro. Their opponents were not very good and allowed Dortmund to seal the three points with another goal by Guerreiro at the 88th minute for the final 2-0. That means that Dortmund topped their group with 13 points and will now go through to the next round. Last week in the Bundesliga they emerged victorious from the Ruhr Derby against Schalke, winning by 2-1 on the road. Again they took an early lead but were equalized at the 61st minute when their opponents scored from the penalty spot. But Dortmund found another late goal at the 74th minute to win that match by 2-1. They are now undefeated in their last six games in all competitions (5-0-1), keeping three clean sheets in that span. They have also been great at home so far in the league (6-0-1), where they also have two wins and two draws for the Champions League and the German Cup. But Dortmund will come here with a lot of injury concerns, as up to seven players are currently listed as questionable to participate.

Werder Bremen (6-5-3) finally broke out of their slump with a comfortable home win against Dusseldorf last week. They were excellent in the first half of that match and took the lead at the 20th minute with Mohwald. But their opponents pulled even at the 43rd minute when Lukebakio scored from the penalty spot. It was a much more balanced second half between the two teams, but Werder Bremen scored twice in a seven-minute span (71st and 78th) to eventually win that match by 1-3. That was their first win after four consecutive unsuccessful results (0-3-1). Oddly enough, there have been goals from both sides in 14 of Werder Bremen’s 16 matches in all competitions so far. They are now sitting at the 8th spot of the league table with 21 points, having scored 24 goals so far against 23 conceded. They are one point behind Hoffenheim and two points behind Hertha Berlin, Frankfurt and the top-six spots that grant entrance to the European competitions next season. Werder Bremen have been quite competitive on the road so far (3-2-1), where seven of their last eight matches in all competitions had goals from both sides. Six of those also featured at least Over 2.5 Goals. Werder Bremen will also come here with a ton of injury concerns, as three players are missing and six more are still questionable.
