There are just a few more matches to be played in the regular season of the MLS, and we have an inter-Conference clash on Saturday, between two teams looking to solidify their spots. The Vancouver Whitecaps will play host to the New York Red Bulls, looking to remain at the top spot of the Western Conference, while the Red Bulls are barely clinging to the 6th and last spot of the Eastern Conference play-offs.
The Vancouver Whitecaps (15-10-6) have managed to climb to the top spot of the Western Conference, where they are still sitting with 51 points after 32 matches. Portland, SKC and Seattle are all 4 points behind them, so they need to make a strong finish, as they are in danger of even finishing at the 4th or 5th spot. They have been in awesome form in recent weeks, as they have only lost one of their last 9 matches (6-1-2), but have kept just a single clean sheet in that span. The Whitecaps have been excellent on the road so far in the season, where they have the best record in the Conference, and the 3rd best record in the MLS (6-2-7). However, they have only won 2 of their last 5 road matches (2-1-2).

On the other hand, he New York Red Bulls (12-12-7) have been in really poor form lately, as they are win-less in their last 10 matches in all competitions (0-4-6), having kept just a single clean sheet in that span. The Red Bulls fought really hard against Toronto in their last match, but they eventually conceded a couple of late goals and were defeated by 2-4 on the road. They are still sitting at the 6th spot of the Eastern Conference with 43 points after 31 matches, and with 3 more matches to go, they will need to be very careful. Montreal, New England, Philadelphia and Orlando are all sitting just 4 points behind, so a slip-up here could be catastrophic. The Red Bulls have been quite strong at home so far in the season (8-2-5), where they are undefeated in their last 7 matches in all competitions (3-0-4).
