The San Jose Earthquakes have been without a doubt the worst team in the MLS so far in the season. They did pull a massive upset against FC Dallas two weeks ago but came back down to earth on Sunday. They will now play host to Toronto FC on Saturday, who is coming off a tremendous win. They won their first piece of silverware of the season on Wednesday and will come here in high spirits. But the fatigue and suspensions to key players will probably deprive them of a chance for the three points.

The San Jose Earthquakes (3-13-7) showed signs of life when they defeated FC Dallas by a massive 3-1 on the road, but failed to follow up over the weekend. They were hosted by the Colorado Rapids, and even though it was a pretty balanced match, they ended up losing by 1-2. They were actually holding on for the 1-1 draw but conceded a goal at the 3rd minute of stoppage time to eventually fail. San Jose is still stuck at the depths of the Western Conference with 16 points, now eight behind the 11th Colorado. There is no end in sight for San Jose, who is having yet another horrible season. They have won just a single match at home so far (1-5-4), where they have only kept a couple of clean sheets so far in the season.

On the other hand, Toronto FC (6-12-5) will be delighted after capturing the Canadian Championship on Wednesday. They were up against the Vancouver Whitecaps in the final and had played for a 2-2 draw in the first leg on the road. But Toronto FC was really interested in the trophy, as their season has not been the best so far. They eventually destroyed Vancouver by a massive 2-5 at home and easily captured their first trophy of the season. That was their first win after three matches, but their defense is still suffering. They have conceded multiple goals in each of their last four games. Toronto FC is still sitting at the 10th spot of the Eastern Conference with 23 points, just as many as Orlando City and bottom-feeders Chicago Fire. They have not been very strong on the road either (2-7-3), but they have lost only one of their last six matches in all competitions (2-1-3).
