The Chicago Fire have shed the troubles of last season, and they are actually having a pretty awesome season given their course last year. They will be now hosted by New York City FC, who suffered a late equalizer by Toronto on Wednesday and will be looking to get all 3 points here. The match is set to be played on Saturday, July 22nd.
The Chicago Fire (11-3-5) recorded a pretty lucky 2-2 draw on the road against the Portland Timbers back in July 6th. Even though their opponents took the lead at the 24th minute, Chicago had already overturned the lead in their favor by the 61st. However, they conceded once again at the 70th minute for the final 2-2, which is a very good result considering the fact that their opponents were much better. They are riding on a 13 match undefeated streak in all competitions (9-0-4), but they have been eliminated from the US Open Cup in that span. They are still sitting at the 2nd spot of the Eastern Conference with 38 points after 19 matches. They have not been very bad on the road so far (2-3-4), where they are undefeated in their last 7 matches in all competitions (3-0-4). They will be coming into this match with a handful of injury concerns, as John Goossens, Jorge Bava, David Arshakyan have been ruled out, while Bastian Schweinsteiger and Matt Polster are still listed as questionable to participate. Moreover, they will be missing Dax McCarty who is on international duty.

On the other hand, New York City FC (10-6-4) are coming off a pretty frustrating 2-2 draw at home against Toronto FC on Wednesday. Toronto FC came into the match missing most of their best players, but even so, they took the lead at the 11th minute with Morgan. New York City FC pulled even at the stoppage time of the first half with David Villa, and took the lead at the start of the second half when Moralez bagged one of his own. Sadly enough, they conceded a late goal when Vazquez scored from the penalty spot at the stoppage time and were stuck at a 2-2 draw. They are now sitting at the 3rd spot of the Eastern Conference with 34 points after 20 matches, featuring the 2nd best offense with 38 goals, and the 3rd best defense with just 26 conceded. They will be coming into this match with a couple of absences, as Khiry Shelton, Ronald Matarrita and Yangel Herrera have been ruled out.
