Georgia secured a spot in the SEC championship game with a victory last week, but there’s still work to be done if the Bulldogs hope to make the College Football Playoff. This week Georgia meets a conference rival it’s never met before when Texas A&M pays a visit to Athens Saturday afternoon.

Aggies vs. Bulldogs Set-Up
Texas A&M started 3-3 this season, with losses to Clemson, Auburn, and Alabama. But the Aggies are 4-0 SU, 3-1 ATS since then, after beating South Carolina last week 30-6, covering as a 10-point favorite. A&M only led that game 13-3 into the fourth quarter then pulled away with 17 straight points for the win and the money.
The Aggies out-gained the Gamecocks 540-260, won the ground game 319-45, and dominated time of possession by a 42:28 split.
Two weeks ago, Texas A&M beat UT-San Antonio 45-14, but a late UT-SA touchdown on a pick-six cost the Aggies the money as 38-point favorites. Three weeks ago, A&M beat Mississippi State 49-30, covering at -10, and just before that, the Aggies beat Ole Miss 24-17, covering at -6. So A&M’s making money as of late.
At 4-2 in conference play, the Aggies can’t win the SEC West title, so from here on out, it’s about pride and a good bowl berth.
Georgia, meanwhile, is also 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS over its last four games, after winning at Auburn last week 21-14, covering at -3. But most importantly, the Bulldogs clinched the SEC East title. The ‘Dawgs led 7-0 after one quarter, 14-0 at the half and 21-0 through three, let the Tigers pull within one score in the fourth but held on for the victory and the cash.
Georgia actually got out-gained by Auburn 329-251, although over half the yardage the Bulldogs defense gave up came after taking that 21-0 lead.
Two weeks ago, Georgia blanked Missouri 27-0, covering at -19. Three weeks ago, the ‘Dawgs beat Florida 24-17, covering at -6.5. And just before that, they blanked Kentucky 21-0, although they couldn’t quite cover at -23 in the rain.
At 6-1 in conference play, the Bulldogs have clinched the SEC East, and at 9-1 overall, they’re also still chasing a spot in the CFP.
Even though Texas A&M joined the SEC back in 2012, this is the first meeting between these two teams as conference rivals.
