Swansea were great last weekend, as they defeated Everton at home just like we predicted and managed to move out of the red zone. However, they took advantage of Sunderland’s win over Hull City, as the two teams will now clash against each other on Saturday, May 13th. Sunderland played spoiler to Hull City last week, but that didn’t matter at all for them as they have already been relegated.
Swansea (10-21-5) are coming off a solid win by 0-1 at home against Everton, just like we predicted. They took the lead at the 29th minute with Llorente, and went on to preserve their lead till the end of the match. They actually took advantage of the fact that their upcoming opponents, Sunderland, defeated Hull City last week, as Swansea moved out of the red zone. They are now sitting at the 17th spot of the Premier League with 35 points, having scored 41 goals against 69 conceded. They have not been very good on the road this season (3-13-2), where they have the 5th worst offense with 16 goals, and the worst defense with 36 conceded. They haven’t had much luck in their recent road matches, as they are win-less in their last 7 (0-6-1), but they are coming off a goal-less draw against Manchester United in their most recent match. Failing to win here could bring them back below the red line, so they will be coming into this match with the 3 points in their sights.
Sunderland (6-23-6) are coming off an unexpected road win against Hull City by 2-0. Hull City were playing with the anxiety of the relegation, while Sunderland have already been relegated and were much more relaxed. They have had a season to forget, as they never really managed to escape from the bottom places of the Premier League. That win came to put an end to their 10 match win-less streak (0-8-2), but they still remain at the bottom of the Premier League with 24 points. They have had the worst home record so far (3-10-5), where they have scored 16 goals and have conceded twice as many. Sadly enough, they have gone win-less in their last 10 matches at home (0-5-5), having failed to score in 7 matches in that span. They will be coming into this match with quite a few injury concerns, as Kirchhoff, McNair, Oviedo and Watmore are listed as out, while Cattermole and Gibson are still listed as questionable to participate.
