Two teams that haven’t made the best of starts in the Premier League will clash, when Arsenal will host Southampton on Saturday, August 10th. Arsenal started the season rather badly, but their 3-1 win against Watford will surely bring some peace. Southampton have yet to win, and it’s obvious that the team lacks chemistry.
Arsenal were flawless in the first half of their road match against Watford. Arsenal had already scored 3 goals by the end of the first half, and only played the game out. However, they conceded a goal at the 57th minute, but their opponents were unable to contest them. Arsenal have made two last-minute transfers, as they brought in defender Mustafi and striker Lucas Perez, who had an amazing season last year with Deportivo La Corunia. Arsenal will have a full injury list ahead of this match, as Mertesacker, Ramsey, Iwobi, Gabriel and Welbeck are all injured. Arsenal would also like to take it slow on this match, as they are preparing to travel to Paris, in order to take on Paris Saint Germaine for the Champions League on Tuesday.
On the other hand, Southampton failed to win their second home match of the season, as they were challenged by Sunderland for a 1-1 draw. Southampton were generally better that their opponents, but it was them who conceded first after a penalty kick by their opponents at the 80th minute. However, a tragic mistake by Sunderland’s goalkeeper just 5 minutes later gave the chance for Southampton to pull even for the final 1-1. Their coach was disappointed, as his team dominated the stat sheet, but he is also happy to see his players fight for results. Southampton will make their debut in the Europa League on Thursday, when they will be hosting Sparta Prague.
