Roma were quite lucky in their Champions League match mid-week, where they overcame Chelsea by 3-0 at home, but much harder than the final score suggests. They have now won four in a row, and they will now travel to Florence, where they will be hosted by Fiorentina on Sunday, November 5th. Fiorentina were taken by surprise last week against Crotone, and met quite an unexpected loss.
Roma (8-0-2) managed to score two quick goals in the first half of their match against Chelsea, and destroyed their opponents’ morale. Chelsea did try to make a come-back, but Roma scored a 3rd goal at the second half that pretty much finished it. That was Roma’s 4th consecutive win in all competitions, all accompanied by clean sheets. As far as the Serie A is concerned, Roma are now sitting at the 5th spot of the Serie A with 24 points, having scored only 17 goals so far, but are featuring the best defense in the league with just 5 conceded. They have been dominant on the road (4-0-0), having won all 4 league matches with clean sheets.
On the other hand we have Fiorentina (5-1-5), who are coming into this match after suffering a really frustrating 2-1 loss on the road against Crotone last week. Their opponents stunned them with a couple of goals by the 18th minute, and even though Fiorentina managed to score once in the second half, they left empty-handed. That was their first loss after 3 consecutive wins in all competitions, that were actually their only victories in their last 7 matches (3-1-3). They are now sitting at the 5th spot of the Serie A with 16 points, having scored 19 goals against 13 conceded. Fiorentina have stood really strong at home so far in the season (3-1-1), but have kept just a single clean sheet in that span.
