The Spanish La Liga returns to action this week, and there are a couple of exciting matches on Sunday. One of them is bound to be a really spectacular affair when Real Madrid plays host to Real Sociedad. Real Madrid is not having the best of seasons so far but is getting there. They have a long way to go in order to challenge Barcelona for the title, but a win here could bring them closer. Real Madrid (9-5-3) clashed against Villarreal on the road on Thursday in what was a pretty tough match for them. Their opponents took an early lead, but Real Madrid had already overturned it by the 20th minute. However, they conceded a late goal that split the points between the two teams in that 2-2 draw. Real Madrid missed a chance to move even closer to the top, and are now still sitting 4th with 30 points. They are just two behind Sevilla, four behind Atletico Madrid and seven behind league leaders Barcelona. Real Madrid has also been strong as usual at home so far in the league (6-1-1), where they also have three more wins and a loss in the Champions League and the Copa del Rey.

Real Sociedad (5-8-4) are having a mediocre season at best, as they are now sitting just above the relegation zone. They are now at the 15th spot of the La Liga table with 19 points, only as many as Leganes below them. Both teams are three points ahead of Villarreal, Athletic Bilbao, and the relegation zone. Real Sociedad are battling consistency issues this season and have been rather bad lately, losing four of their last five matches in all competitions (1-4-0). In their last game, they met a really frustrating 1-0 loss on the road against Alaves and had scored just one goal in their previous four league matches. Oddly enough, 12 of their 18 total goals have come on the road where they have the 3rd best record (4-4-1).
