Philadelphia Union (7-9-3) clashed against Orlando City at home on Wednesday, for the quarter-finals of the US Open Cup. Midfielder Alejandro Bedoya took an early lead for the Union at the 4th minute, with the first half being pretty balanced between the two sides. Philadephia was really improved in the second half but only succeeded in holding on to their lead. That was their second consecutive win, and fourth in their last six (4-2-0). They are now sitting at the 7th spot of the Eastern Conference with 24 points, three behind Montreal Impact. Philadelphia Union has been quite solid at home so far in the season (5-3-2), where they have also won three matches for the US Open Cup.
On the other hand, the LA Galaxy (8-7-4) played a bizarre match on the road against New England. Their opponents took the lead twice in the first half, despite playing with 1 men since the 23rd minute. The Galaxy also received a red card at the 85th minute, but scored two late goals and eventually won that match by 3-2. That was their second consecutive win, and they have lost just once in their last eight (4-1-3). The Galaxy is now sitting at the 6th spot of the Western Conference with 28 points, one behind Real Salt Lake. They have been quite balanced on the road so far (3-3-3), but have won just two of their last seven (2-3-2).
