Iran pulled somewhat of an upset when they defeated Morocco in the opener, but they are truly one of the weakest teams in the competition. Even so, they fought hard against Spain but lost by a slim 1-0. They do have some pretty weak qualifying chances, but they will have to defeat Portugal on Monday. Portugal did well to hold Spain to a draw in the opener but was very lucky against Morocco. They did get the win, but Morocco deserved all three points from that match.

Iran lucked out against Morocco, where they scored a late goal to take the win. They didn’t deserve even a draw point from that match, but life isn’t always fair. Especially in soccer. Iran struggled in their second match as well, where they were clashing against Spain. They failed to record a single shot on the opposing target, but they also held Spain at bay. However, Diego Costa scored the only goal of that match at the 54th minute. Even so, this is not the end of the line for Iran, who still hold on to their qualification hopes. However, they will need nothing other than a win against Portugal in order to do so.
Portugal was not at all good against Morocco, and it was because of sheer luck that they emerged victoriously. They took an early lead at the 4th minute of that match, in one of their only two shots on target. Morocco was excellent in that match, as they were creating one chance after the other. They also held Portugal outside their area, but sadly failed to score a single goal. Portugal now has 4 points in the group, and a draw here would be enough to see them through. Coach Santos know precisely how to handle matches like this, and wait for them to play a really boring game.
