Manchester City made a really great start in the 2018-19 season of the Premier League when they easily defeated Arsenal in the opener. However, they got some horrible news about one of their key players, who is set to spend an extended period of time on the sidelines due to an injury. They will now have a much easier job this Sunday when they will play host to Huddersfield. Huddersfield fell badly in the opener against Chelsea, and they will probably be left without any points after this match as well.
Manchester City started the season with a solid 2-0 win against Chelsea in the Community Shield. In their first league match of the season, they were up against Arsenal on the road, in what was considered to be a massive match-up. Even though coach Guardiola didn’t start his best players, Manchester City managed to record an easy 2-0 win on the road. Raheem Sterling took the lead at the 14th minute off an assist by Mendy, while Bernardo Silva doubled that at the 64th minute, assisted by the same player. Despite the two excellent results, Manchester City suffered a significant blow in Wednesday’s training. Star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne sustained a nasty injury in his knee during a training session, and the first reports call for at least two to four months of rehab. The official announcement is yet to be made, but he is definitely going to miss a lot of time.
On the other hand, Huddersfield is coming off a terrible loss at home against Chelsea in the opener, where they fell by 3-0 at home. It was a very unattractive first half, where each team only recorded three scoring chances. However, Chelsea managed to score twice out of these three chances. They took the lead at the 34th minute with Kante, while newly-signed Jorginho scored from the penalty spot at the 45th minute. Huddersfield eventually fell apart in the second half, conceding yet another goal at the 80th minute for the final 3-0. They will now face another tough match-up, but their next four matches are slightly easier.
