There is a great battle going on in Group H of the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers, where Belgium have already grabbed the automatic qualification. However, there are 3 more teams fighting to finish at the 2nd spot, and two of them are clashing against one another on Saturday, when Cyprus will play host to Greece. Greece are a slightly better spot, but in order for any of them to challenge the 2nd spot, they will need Bosnia & Herzegovina to lose points to Belgium.
Greece (3-1-4) are coming off a really hard match against Belgium at home, where despite their efforts, they lost by 2-1. Greece did temporarily equalize Belgium’s goal at the 74th minute, but their opponents scored what would be the winning goal at the very next minute for the final 2-1. They are now sitting at the 3rd spot of Group H with 13 points, and had they not been held to an unexpected goal-less draw against Estonia, they would have been 2nd and much more comfortable right now. However, Greece have been quite competitive on the road (2-0-2), where they have scored 7 goals against just 2 conceded. There have not been a lot of goals in Greece’s matches so far, as only two of their eight matches featured Over 2.5 Goals.
On the other hand, Cyprus (3-4-1) did an excellent job to come back from two goals behind against Bosnia & Herzegovina at home, where they eventually won by 2-3. After that massive feat, Cyprus destroyed what they achieved, as they fell to minnows Estonia by 0-1 on the road. It was a stingy loss, as they are now sitting at the 4th spot of Group H with 10 points, 3 points behind Greeece, and 4 points behind Bosnia & Herzegovina who are playing against Belgium. Cyprus have always been quite strong at home, and in this phase they have only lost one of their 4 matches so far (2-1-1), against Belgium.
