The Portland Timbers have been in really mediocre form in the MLS lately, as they have won just once over the past month. However, they showed signs of life in their last two matches, grabbing four points in the process. They will now look to keep that undefeated streak going when they play host to the Colorado Rapids on Saturday. Colorado has been really weak this season and is stuck at the depths of the Western Conference.

The Portland Timbers (11-7-8) are coming into this match after a pretty mediocre affair on the road against New England. The two teams were engaged in a really balanced and pretty ugly first half with not a lot of scoring chances. New England took the lead at the 58th minute, but Portland managed to pull even at the 70th minute for the final 1-1. They have grabbed four points from their last two matches, but prior to that, they had four consecutive losses. The Timbers are now sitting at the 6th spot of the Western Conference with 41 points, just one ahead of Vancouver. They have been excellent at home so far in the season (8-2-3), where they have won three of their last five (3-2-0).

The Colorado Rapids (6-14-6) suffered one of the most significant losses in the club’s history in their last match. They played host to Real Salt Lake, and nothing could have prepared them for what was about to take place. The first half was a complete nightmare, as Colorado saw two red cards and two opposing goals. With two fewer men in the pitch, the Rapids were eventually demolished in the second half, conceding four more goals for a massive 6-0 loss. They have been in mediocre form lately (2-2-1), but don’t let that distract you from the fact that they have been one of the worst teams in the MLS this season. Colorado are still stuck at the penultimate spot of the Western Conference with 24 points. They have no real chances to make the playoffs. They have also been pretty awful on the road this season (1-8-3), having scored just 9 goals so far.
