Chicago Fire (6-10-5) exploded in their last match when they destroyed USL side Louisville City by a massive 0-4 at home. Chicago took an early two-goal lead but was really pressured in the second half. Their opponents were creating one chance after another, but Chicago remained calm and scored two more goals at the stoppage time for the final 0-4. That loss put an end to their three-match losing streak and was their first clean sheet in their last six matches. But the last time they kept a clean sheet in the MLS was back on May 10th in a 0-1 against Montreal Impact at home. Chicago Fire is now sitting at the 8th spot of the Eastern Conference with 23 points, four behind the playoff spots. They have been mediocre at best in their home (4-5-2), but have lost just one of their last five (3-1-1).
Toronto FC (4-11-4) did not play a very pretty match on the road against Ottawa Fury on Wednesday. The two teams were clashing in the first leg of the Canadian Championship semi-finals, and Toronto FC managed to take an early lead. However, they were actually pretty bad in the rest of the match, and their opponents pretty much dominated them. Even so, they held on to their lead and are now one step closer to the final. As far as the MLS is concerned, Toronto FC has had a dreadful season so far, as they are still sitting at the penultimate spot of the Eastern Conference though, with 16 points. They now have the worst away record in the Conference (1-7-2), where they have kept a single clean sheet. However, they have scored at least once in their last ten matches in all competitions.
