Montreal Impact has been in pretty bad form over the past month, having failed to win a single match in that span. They will now look for a way out of their slump when they will play host to Chicago Fire on Saturday. Chicago Fire has been in much worse form lately and is coming into this match having lost each of their last five games in all competitions.
Montreal Impact (9-13-3) were quite numb in the first half of their away match against Real Salt Lake last week. They saw their opponents take an early lead at the 26th minute with Plata, but Montreal Impact was greatly improved in the second half. They managed to pull even at the 55th minute with Raitala, and held on for the draw. That was their second consecutive draw by the same score, as Montreal is now winless in their last five matches in all competitions (0-2-3). They have also dropped out of the Canadian Championship in that span. When it comes to the MLS, Montreal is sitting at the 6th spot of the Eastern Conference with 30 points, just as many as Philadelphia above them. Both teams are only one point ahead of the 7th New England. Montreal has been pretty solid at home so far in the season (7-4-1), where they have won six of their last eight. However, they have failed to win each of their last two there.
On the other hand, Chicago Fire (6-14-5) could not have hoped for any points from their home match against the Red Bulls last week. They were terrible in front of their own home crowd, as they recorded just a single shot on target. The Red Bulls scored the only goal of the match at the 55th minute for the final 1-0. Prior to that, Chicago Fire had lost to Philadelphia Union by 0-3 on the road and was eliminated from the US Open Cup. They have been in pathetic form lately, losing each of their last five, and eight of their previous nine. As a result, they have now dropped to the bottom of the Eastern Conference with 23 points, just as many as Toronto FC and Orlando City. They have been just as bad on the road (2-7-3), where they have scored 15 goals against 26 conceded. They have lost each of their last five away matches, conceding 14 goals in the process.
