There will be one more interesting match in the Premier League on Saturday besides the London Derby, when Manchester City will be hosting league leaders Chelsea. Chelsea have climbed at the top of the Premier League, while City are sitting just one point below them, ready to climb back up.
Chelsea (10-2-1) managed to climb at the top of the Premier League, where they are sitting with 31 points, just 1 point above Manchester City and Liverpool. They have been really great so far, having won 11 of their 16 matches so far in all competitions (11-3-2), securing 7 clean sheets in the process. They have only lost against Liverpool at home by 2-1, and against Arsenal by 0-3 on the road so far in the Premier League, while their 3rd loss of the season came against West Ham for the EFL Cup. They have a 4-1-1 road record in the league, having defeated mostly lower level teams, but were defeated in the only real Derby against Arsenal. Chelsea are not competing in any European competition this season, and it is a grade A opportunity for them to completely focus on winning the Premier League this season. They have the second best offense with 29 goals scored, and also the best defense with just 10 goals conceded after 13 matches so far. Chelsea will have just a couple of injury concerns ahead of this match, as experienced defender Jason Terry is still suffering from a muscle injury, while Zouma is still listed as questionable to participate.
On the other hand, Manchester City (9-1-3) were leading the Premier League since the start of the season, but 3 draws in their last 6 league matches forced them to drop in the standings, as Chelsea are now on top. City are coming off a 2-1 road win against Burnley last week, which means that Manchester City are now undefeated in their last 6 matches in all competitions (4-0-2). However, they were locked in a 6 match winless streak (0-3-3) just before their winning streak, and it goes to show that City are somewhat struggling with consistency issues as of late. Even so, they have done an incredible job at home so far in the season, running a 9 match undefeated streak (6-0-3) in all competitions. However, they have only kept 5 clean sheets after 22 matches so far, and their problem is once again the leaky defense. Besides all that, Manchester city booked their ticket to the knock-out round of the Champions League after playing for a 1-1 draw against Gladbach on the road last Wednesday. They will only be missing Kompany and Delf for this match due to injuries.
