Atletico Madrid (5-1-5) are coming off a frustrating 1-1 draw on the road against Leganes in their last match. It was a pretty balanced match between the two sides, but after a goalless first half it was Atletico Madrid who took the lead at the 69th minute. But they saw their opponents pull even at the 82nd minute for the final 1-1 which was the fairest outcome. After that, Atletico Madrid took revenge for a hard loss in the previous round of the Champions League when they defeated Dortmund by 0-2 at home. They are now leading Group A with 9 points, just as many as Dortmund but with slightly worse goal difference. Atletico Madrid has been really solid lately, and have lost only once in the past two months (8-1-4). They are now sitting at the 4th spot of the league table with 20 points, just as many as Sevilla and Alaves. Atletico Madrid has been excellent at home for one more season (6-0-1 in all competitions), where they have conceded just two goals.
On the other hand, Athletic Bilbao (1-3-7) also played a really balanced match last week, on the road against Espanyol. They had to make a substitute early in that match due to an injury and were actually pretty bad overall. They failed to create a lot of chances and conceded the only goal of the game at the 40th minute. That means that Athletic Bilbao is still winless after a 1-2 at home against Leganes in the premiere. Six of their last nine matches have been draws, and five of those were goal draws. They have only failed to score in three of their games so far, but have only kept a single clean sheet in the process. Athletic Bilbao is now sitting at the 17th spot of the league table with 10 points, just one ahead of Leganes. They traditionally don’t do well on the road, and this season they have yet to win after five attempts (0-1-4). Their first four away matches were goal-draws before that 0-1 loss to Espanyol.
