Arsenal and Chelsea have both been in immense form lately, and they will be clashing against each other at the FA Cup final on Saturday, May 27th. Chelsea are coming off a solid overturn win against Southampton and sealed the Premier League title, and they will be looking to complete the double here. This will be the 20th time that Arsenal reach the FA Cup final, breaking their previous tie with Manchester United. They have a great chance to reclaim the sole possession of the record for most FA Cup titles, which they also share with Manchester United at 12 each.
Chelsea have been sitting at the top of the Premier League for most of the season, and they finally managed to win the title after recording a 1-5 win against Sunderland at home. Their opponents managed to freeze the entire venue when they took the lead at the 3rd minute, but Chelsea managed to easily bounce back as they equalized just 4 minute later. They were excellent in the second half, as they scored 3 more goals and easily cruised to their 2nd title in the last 3 years. They made a comfortable finish to the season, as they won all 6 of their last matches, keeping Tottenham at bay, who have been lurking at the 2nd spot looking to steal the title. The final against Arsenal could most likely be forward Diego Costa’s last match with the blue outfit, as he has been long rumored to be on his way to China after the season has ended. He will have one last opportunity to terrorize an Arsenal defense that has truly suffered in his presence over the years.
Arsenal might be coming into this match after a solid win against Everton by 1-3 at home, but it wasn’t enough to secure them a Champions League spot for next season. They finished at the 5th spot of the Premier League with 75 points, just a single point behind Liverpool and 3 behind Manchester City. They were looking for a win on Sunday, hoping that either Liverpool or City would lose, in order to move up a spot and capture one of the spots that grant entrance to the Champions League next season. Even so, both Liverpool and City won, so Arsenal are left outside the Champions League for the first time since coach Wenger took over 20 years ago. Despite missing out on the Champions League for the first time in 20 years, Arsenal finished their season on a good note, as they comfortably won all 5 of their last matches. However, they were very unlucky in their last match, as they saw defender Laurent Koscielny receive a red card and he is now suspended, while star forward Alexis Sanchez suffered a hamstring injury and is still listed as questionable to participate.
