Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Cincinnati Bengals Overview
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay comes in off an overtime win last week at home against the Cleveland Browns when the Bucs edged out the Dawgs by a score of 26-23. The victory saw the Bucs end a three-game losing streak. However, Tampa has failed to cover now in four consecutive outings.
Cincinnati Bengals
Clueless was one word that some used to describe the look on Cincinnati skipper Marvin Lewis’ face when he saw his defense get lit up for 45 points Sunday Night against the Kansas City Chiefs. After getting off to a 3-1 start, the Bengals have come back down to Earth losing in back-to-back weeks to the Pittsburgh Steelers and then, of course, the debacle on Sunday night against KC.
Reasons to Avoid Tampa Bay
The Bucs come in off a hard-earned win in overtime and have to follow this up with a road trip against a quality opponent. This is a prime let-down spot. When you factor this in with the narrative of Cincinnati’s own woes, this sets up Cincinnati for an excellent bounce back. Outside of the handicapping angles, Tampa Bay’s defense is the worst in the league. The Bucs give up 32.7 points per game and an insatiable 327.5 passing yards through the air. This is especially bad news considering Cincinnati has one of the game’s best receivers in A.J Green who is in line to have a FanDuel frenzy. We would need all the points we could get here, but given the fact many have been scuffed up, Tampa Bay must be avoided.
Reasons to Back Cincinnati
The Bengals will be a popular fade target this week after painting a bleak picture in a primetime spot last week. We saw Cincinnati open in this market as a six-point choice, but that has since diminished now to its current position where we can likely step in on a short-sold favorite. Given the fact, Tampa Bay has lost its last two road games as well we have to like the prospects of Cincy getting a win here and betting their chances of a cover against a reduced line while doing so.
