Closing as a 5.5-point underdog, the Black and Yellow were nowhere near to a cover against the reigning and defending champion New England Patriots. The Pats did a demolition job on the Steelers and defeated them 33-3 in a primetime nationally-televised thumping.

The Seahawks were as much as a five-point underdog in this market but have since dropped to their current position as a -3.5-point dog. As a result of the public jumping all over the points, the value has been extracted from this line on Seattle before we even get into the fact that a public dog is often a sign of an undervalued favorite. The Steelers offer minimal appeal after the beat-down they took at the hand of New England. However, it is in spots like this where Pittsburgh actually provides the most value. Had Pittsburgh made a game of it with New England or had they even pulled an upset, we would be forced to lay perhaps double the points with this same Pittsburgh club. This is the ideal team to back Pittsburgh, albeit we are getting on-board a short-sold favorite which means we are laying fewer points than the market suggests.
