It’s a battle of NFC playoff hopefuls when the Seattle Seahawks hit Philadelphia for the third time in a year to take on the Eagles for this week’s edition of Monday Night Football. These teams met twice last season, once in the playoffs, with Seattle winning both games by the exact same score, 17-9. Those two games were lined with very short spreads; now, the Seahawks are favored by five points. How are we playing this game with our free NFL pick?

Week 12 NFL betting odds opened Seattle at right around -3.5 for this game, with an over/under of 52. Early betting action then bumped the Seahawks to -5 and it has continued to climb now up to -6.5. Like the spread, the total has continued to move but in the opposite direction dropping to as low as 48.5 at some online betting sites.
Seahawks vs. Eagles Betting Preview
Seattle just stopped a two-game losing skid with a 28-21 win over Arizona last Thursday. The Seahawks drove the opening possession of the game 75 yards to a touchdown and never trailed from there. Seattle led 16-7 at the half, allowed the Cardinals to pull within 23-21 early in the fourth quarter but got a gift safety and a field goal to stretch the lead to seven, then clinched victory with a defensive stop just outside their own red zone with 30 seconds to go.
Seattle out-gained Arizona 347-314, as the Seahawks’ defense posted its best effort of the season, strangely enough, against the League’s top-ranked offense. Seattle also out-rushed the Cardinals 165-57, dominated time of possession by a 35:25 split, and didn’t commit a turnover after committing seven over the previous two weeks.
The Seahawks have only out-gained three of their ten opponents this season, but they’ve also out-rushed eight of their ten foes, including the last five in a row.
At 7-3, overall, Seattle is tied for the lead in the NFC West with the Rams, although LA owns the head-to-head tiebreaker thanks to that 23-16 victory over the Seahawks two weeks ago. But Seattle also holds the top wild-card spot in the NFC, for the moment.
Philadelphia, meanwhile, owns a two-game losing skid after falling at Cleveland last week 22-17. The Eagles trailed 7-0 at the half thanks to a Carson Wentz pick-6 but tied the score at 7-7 early in the third quarter. Philadelphia then allowed a 15-3 Browns run to fall down 22-10 and couldn’t fully recover, going down ATS as a 2.5-point dog.
The Eagles got out-gained by Cleveland 324-315, out-rushed 137-106, and lost the turnover battle 3-1, creating at least a -6 points differential. Philadelphia also gave up a safety on a sack in the end zone.
The Eagles have now been out-gained six times in 10 games this season and out-rushed seven times.
And yet, through it, all Philadelphia, at 3-6-1, leads the NFC East (going into Thanksgiving’s action) by a half-game over each of the other three teams in its division.
If the playoffs started today (well, Wednesday), the Eagles would host the Seahawks again for another NFC wild-card game.
