San Francisco is 5-1 both SU and ATS over its last six games after beating Atlanta last Sunday 31-13. That game was tied at 10-10 when the 49ers scored the last seven points of the first half, then the first seven points of the second half, and held on from there for the victory and the cover as 10-point favorites.
The Niners out-gained the Falcons 397-275, out-rushed Atlanta 162-62, and played some great goal-line defense.
San Francisco has now out-gained and out-rushed five of its last six opponents.
At 8-6 overall, the 49ers probably won’t catch Arizona in the NFC West race, but they also sit in the No. 6 spot in the NFC playoff standings, a game ahead of Minnesota and New Orleans.
Tennessee, meanwhile, is 1-3 both SU and ATS over its last four games after losing at Pittsburgh last Sunday 19-13. The Titans scored the first 10 points of that game, led 13-3 at the half but lost the second half 16-0 to lose the game.
In the end, driving for the winning score, Tennessee got stopped one yard short on a fourth down at the Steelers’ 10-yard line.
The Titans actually out-gained Pittsburgh 318-168, out-rushed the Steelers 201-35, and dominated time of possession by a 39:21 split. But Tennessee also turned the ball over four times, which basically created a -12 points differential.
The Titans have out-gained three of their last four opponents and out-rushed each of their last four foes, even without RB Henry. But they’re also -9 on the turnover margin over that span.
At 9-5 overall, Tennessee still leads the AFC South by one game over 8-6 Indianapolis and only trails Kansas City by one game in the battle for the No. 1 spot in the AFC. However, the Titans are certainly trending in the wrong direction, and there are five teams sitting just one game behind them in that AFC race at 8-6.
These two teams last met four seasons ago, a 25-23 San Francisco home win. Jimmy Garoppolo quarterbacked the Niners that day against Marcus Mariota for Tennessee.
On the injury front, the Titans will play this game without RB Henry and possibly without WR Jones.
