The New York Giants head to Cleveland to take on the Browns at FirstEnergy Stadium in Week 12 NFL action. The betting odds on this game opened with the Giants a -7 point spread favorite where it has remained on most boards. Kickoff for this game takes place at 1 PM ET on November 27th.
The Giants come into this game off a 22-16 home win over the Chicago Bears. The win was their fifth straight, but the six point winning margin fell short of the -7 closing line breaking off a four game spread covering streak. New York has played just four games on the road season beating the Cowboys by one in the opening week and the Rams in Week 7 and dropping the other two to Vikings in Week 4 and the Packers in Week 5. As a visitor, they’ve been outscored by an average of 19-16 and against the betting line they’re 1-2-1.
The Browns dropped their latest 24-9 to fellow AFC North rival the Pittsburgh Steelers to remain winless on the season. The 15 point losing margin ran their against the spread record to a bankroll crushing 2-9 on the season with them currently mired in a five game spread losing streak. At home this season Cleveland is 0-5 straight up and versus the betting line. In their defense, they haven’t had the easiest schedule hosting, Baltimore, New England, NY Jets, Dallas and Pittsburgh.
Head to Head
These two clubs haven’t met since 2012 so nothing is statistically relevant. The Giants pasted the Browns 41-27 as a -7.5 home favorite in the last game in this matchup. Since 2000 they have played four games with the NY Giants being the victor in three of the four which matches the home team record in this series.
Statistically
The Giants win three of the four key Yards Per Differential categories that I track. The biggest edge comes in the yards per pass category with the Giants holding +0.4 number compared to the Browns -1.7. The one category that Cleveland has an edge in is the Yards Per Carry Diff with a 0.0 mark compared to the Giants -0.2.
Injuries
The Giants will be without their starting RT Marshall Newhouse and LG Justin Pugh and backup C Brett Jones. DE Jason Pierre-Paul is questionable to play, but he is on record as saying that he’ll be out there.
The Browns may be without two depth players in the secondary with CB Tramon Williams and FS Ed Reynolds both questionable.
Public Money
All the money is coming in on the Giants with some of the consensus sites listing over 80% of the spread bets coming in on the visitor. The total wagering is close to even with the public leaning to the UNDER.
