The 10-5 New York Giants are in the NFC playoffs as a wild card team and this Sunday afternoon at FedEx Field they will try and eliminate the rival 8-6-1 Washington Redskins from postseason contention in this heated NFC East tilt. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. p.m. (ET) and the game will be available on FOX.
New York at Washington Game Overview
New York is coming off a bad loss to Philadelphia in last Thursday’s 24-19 setback as a 2.5-point road favorite, but it still clinched a wild card spot in the NFC due to the other results in Week 16. This stunning defeat followed an impressive run of eight straight-up wins in the Giants previous nine games and they are still a healthy 7-3 ATS in their last 10 outings. The total went OVER the 42.5-point closing line against the Eagles after staying UNDER in their prior six games.
Look for Eli Manning to try and get back on track this Sunday afternoon after tossing three interceptions his last time out. Odell Beckham Jr. remains his top target with 96 catches for 1,323 yards and 10 scores. The Giants’ running game has been a source of frustration with an average of just 83.4 yards a game.
Detroit’s loss to Dallas on Monday night has set up a “win and you are in” scenario for the Redskins this Sunday in terms of locking up the other wild card playoff spot in the conference. Washington has stumbled down the stretch with a SU 2-3 record in its last five games, but it has remained a decent betting team with a 6-2 record ATS over its last eight games. The total went OVER 49 in last Sunday’s 41-21 romp against Chicago as a three-point road favorite and it has gone OVER in seven of its last eight games.
The Redskins will also look to their quarterback Kirk Cousins to help them get back to the playoffs after winning the NFC East last year. He completed 18-of-29 passes for 270 yards and a score against the Bears to raise his season total for passing yards to 4,630, which is second in the NFL only to Drew Brees. Cousins has 24 touchdown throws against 10 interceptions and his completion rate on 571 attempts is 66.7 percent. Washington’s ground game has been a bit more productive with 110.5 rushing yards a game.
