New York at Dallas Overview

The Giants started the new season with a 20-15 loss at home to Jacksonville as three-point underdogs. The total in that game stayed UNDER the 42.5-point closing line. This was New York’s sixth straight-up loss in its last seven regular season games. It has lost eight of its last nine road games SU, and the total has stayed UNDER in four of its last five games played on the road.

Rookie sensation Saquon Barkley made a big splash in his NFL debut with 106 yards rushing and one touchdown on 18 carries, but the Giants had to settle for field goals for each of their first three scores. Eli Manning completed 23 of his 37 passing attempts for 224 yards with one interception and a pair of sacks. Odell Beckham Jr. was clearly his top target with 11 receptions for 111 yards, but the duo could not make their way into the end zone through the air.

The Cowboys were on the road against Carolina last Sunday to kick off their regular season schedule, and they came up short in a 16-8 loss as three-point underdogs. The total stayed well UNDER 41.5 points in that NFC tilt. Dallas slid to 3-5-1 against the spread in its last nine games overall, and it will open its home schedule with a 2-5 record both SU and ATS in its previous seven home games. The total has stayed UNDER in four of its last five games played at AT&T Stadium.

The pressure has been dialed up on Dak Prescott at quarterback along with running back Ezekiel Elliott heading into their third season in the NFL. Each player took a step backward last season coming off a very successful rookie campaign. Prescott struggled against a solid Panthers’ defense through three scoreless quarters before finally getting the Cowboys on the board in the fourth quarter. He ended the game with 170 yards passing while suffering six sacks. Elliott fared a bit better with 69 yards rushing on 15 carries, and he did account for the lone touchdown on the day.

New York at Dallas Prediction 09/16/2018

Neither team can afford to fall into a 0-2 hole to start the season. However, neither side looked ready to start the season with their overall play last Sunday. I am not sure what to expect this Sunday night, but it could take a few more games for each of these offenses to get in gear. This could set the stage for a defensive battle between these two bitter rivals.

I would take the Giants and the points when it comes to picking a side, but when it comes to betting this game, I am going with the UNDER on the 42-point total line.
