The 2015 NFL regular season gets underway next Thursday night followed by a full slate of games on Sunday, Sept. 12 so time is running out to place your prop bet odds for the season. The following is a look at BetOnline’s betting odds for this year’s NFL “Most Valuable Player”.
NFL 2015 MVP Player Props
The start of a new season in the NFL is right around the corner and if you are looking to place one or two more props bets before the actual games get underway next week then one of the most popular wagers for players is NFL “Most Valuable Player”. BetOnline has recently updated its betting moneyline odds for this prop and the following is a closer look at a few players with the best value on the board.
Andrew Luck +250
Ever since Luck was drafted first overall by Indianapolis in 2012 he has lived up to all the hype in each of his first three seasons in the NFL. He has led his team to 11 wins in each one of those campaigns while taking the Colts to the next step in the playoffs each year all the way to last season’s AFC Championship against New England. Things did not go as planned in a 45-7 romp as seven-point road underdogs, but Indianapolis starts this season as a +350 favorite to win the AFC this time around.
The Colts also have a legacy of producing MVP that started years ago with Peyton Manning.
Aaron Rodgers +600
It would be hard to have a MVP conversation without talking about Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers. He has already won league MVP twice in his storied 10-year NFL career including last season’s award when he threw for 4,381 yards and 38 touchdowns while completing 65.6 percent of his 520 attempts. The Packers have a solid ground game with Eddie Lacy running the ball, but it will still come down to Rodgers taking this team as far as it is going to go as a +600 second-favorite to win Super Bowl 50.
The recent loss of wide receiver Jordy Nelson might hurt, but Rodgers has already proven that he can complete passes to almost anyone he throws the ball to.
Matt Ryan +2500
Moving down the list in search of some better value in the odds, I settled-in on Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan. Both his career and his team’s performance over the past two seasons have faded from the limelight with a combined 10 wins, but Ryan still has the ability to light things up with one of the top receiver corps in the league. Even in last year’s disappointing 6-10 run, he threw for 4,694 yards and 28 touchdowns. Heading into his eighth season in the league, he has passed for at least 4,000 yards in each of his last four seasons.
The trick to tapping into Ryan’s value for this prop bet is a return to trip to the top of the NFC South for the Falcons.
Eli Manning +3300
Manning has always struck me as the type of player that you can never count out of the running for any form of competition in the NFL, especially when you consider that he was the primary architect of two Super Bowl runs since 2007. Much like Ryan, Eli has faded a bit from the public eye given the New York Giants past two losing seasons. His turned in one of his worst performances as a pro in 2013 with just 18 touchdown passes against 27 interceptions, but Manning got back on track last season by throwing for 4,410 yards and 30 touchdowns while reducing his interceptions to 14, which were his fewest since 2008.
The addition of rookie wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. last season puts this duo in excellent position for even bigger and better things in 2015. Having a healthy Victor Cruz back in the lineup in 2015 will also help Manning’s numbers this season.
