The Kansas City Chiefs (9-2) and Oakland Raiders (2-9) will renew their bitter AFC West rivalry when the two meet at Oakland Coliseum on Sunday, December 2nd, 2018 at 4:05 PM ET. The contest will be broadcasted on CBS. The Chiefs have been a dominant force in this rivalry as of late as they have defeated Oakland eight times in the last 10 fixtures between the two. Oakland and Kansas City have not yet met this season. Kansas City defeated Oakland at Arrowhead Stadium by a score of 26-15 covering as a 4.5-point favorite in December of 2017 when the two sides last met.
Kansas City Chiefs at Oakland Raiders Overview
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs come in off a bye, but previous to that were involved in what has been the biggest match-up of the regular season so far when the Chiefs traveled to the City of Angels to meet with the high-flying Los Angeles Rams in what was nothing short of a shootout that it was supposed to be. The Chiefs were outgunned 54-51 in the Monday Night fixture, two weeks ago.
Oakland Raiders
The Raiders come into this contest on the heels of a 34-17 loss in Baltimore where the Raiders failed to cover a 13-point line against the Ravens, last Sunday. Previous to this, Oakland earned its second win this season with a 23-21 triumph on the road in the desert at the Arizona Cardinals.
Reasons to Avoid Kansas City
Though the Chiefs lost in “The Regular Season Super Bowl” to the Rams, they still painted a good impression to the general public when they produced a performance that caused the highly-anticipated Monday Night contest to live up all the hype. The heavy lumber next to Kansas City’s name is a bi-product of their impressive efforts. However, the fact remains that a team laying this kind of wood to another professional club is ludicrous. We saw KC in a similar situation at home two weeks ago spotting 16.5 points to Arizona, and the Chiefs failed to cover. A similar scenario is likely unfolding here as the Chiefs don’t even have the benefit of playing this one at home.
Reasons to Back Oakland
The last time Oakland hosted the Chiefs, they pulled an upset on Thursday Night Football as a three-point favorite. The circumstances surrounding the Raider victory were extraordinary as the game was decided on the last play of the game. Given the rivalry aspect of this game, the Raiders will likely treat this game as their Super Bowl and throw the kitchen sink at Kansas City. After all, KC’s two losses this season came on the road in hostile environments, but none could rival The Black Hole in a feud as big as this one.
