San Diego (yes, we’re calling the Chargers “San Diego” – they don’t play in Los Angeles, either) is 3-5 on the season, after beating the Bears in Chicago last week 17-16. The Chargers, as four-point underdogs, trailed that game 16-7 late into the third quarter but used a 10-0 run to take the lead. They then survived a Bears field goal attempt at the buzzer that hooked just wide left.
On the day San Diego got out-gained 388-231 and out-rushed 162-36, made just 11 first downs to 26 for Chicago and lost time of possession 38:22. So the Chargers should consider themselves damn lucky to have won that game.
Last week’s victory snapped a three-game losing skid for San Diego.
At 3-5 overall, the Chargers trail first-place Kansas City by two games in the AFC West, and they’re two games behind Houston in the battle for the second AFC wild-card spot.
The Packers own a seven-game winning streak against the Chargers, stretching back to 1993. Most recent, back in 2015, Green Bay beat San Diego 27-20 at Lambeau Field.
Also, Aaron Rodgers is 2-0 against Philip Rivers.
