Two teams with surprising records for two totally different reasons square off this Sunday night when the 4-5 Green Bay Packers head to FedEx Field to play the 5-3-1 Washington Redskins. Kick off for this Week 11 NFC tilt is set for 8:30 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on NBC.
Green Bay at Washington Game Overview
You would almost have to consider this game as a ‘must-win’ for the Packers after they fell to 4-5 straight-up with last week’s 47-24 blowout loss to Tennessee as three-point road favorites. It was their third loss in a row and after failing to cover they are 3-5-1 against the spread. The total went way OVER the 48.5-point line in this latest loss and it has gone OVER in their last outings. Green Bay is 1-3 ATS in four previous road games this year.
Multiple injuries on both sides of the ball have taken its toll on this team. The offense is still ranked 11th in the NFL in scoring with an average of 24.8 points a game, but it remains highly inconsistent from one week to the next. Defensively, the Packers are ranked 10th in the league in total yards allowed (339.1), but they fall all the way to 24th when it comes to points allowed (26.0). One of the biggest issues is a minus four turnover ratio that is 25th in the rankings.
The Redskins continued to stay on track for a second-straight postseason appearance with this past Sunday’s 26-20 victory against Minnesota as 2.5-point home favorites. They are now 5-3-1 on the year SU with a 6-3 record ATS. The total has gone OVER in seven of their first nine games. Washington is 3-2 ATS at home this season and an even 2-2 ATS when closing as a favorite.
This is not the prettiest team to watch in the NFL, but it continues to find ways to win games behind quarterback Kirk Cousins. The Redskins’ passing game is ranked third in the league in yards per game (294.4) and he has completed a solid 67 percent of his 354 attempts. Washington has three different players with at least 40 catches so far and both Matt Jones and Rob Kelley have been effective in the running game. The one concern could be a defense that is 21st in the league in yards allowed and 23rd against the run.
