Dallas Cowboys at Minnesota Vikings Betting Odds – Free Pick

By David Schwab

Week 13 in the NFL gets underway this Thursday night with a NFC clash between the red-hot Dallas Cowboys and the fading Minnesota Vikings. Kickoff from US Bank Stadium is scheduled for 8:25 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on NBC.

Dallas at Minnesota Game Overview

The Cowboys remain the hottest team in the NFL on the field at 10-1 straight-up with their 31-26 victory at home against Washington on Thanksgiving Day, but after failing to cover as 5.5-point favorites, their record against the spread slipped to 9-1-1. They are still a perfect 5-0 ATS on the road this season and with the total going OVER 53 points against the Redskins it has gone OVER in three of their last five games. Dallas is 5-1 ATS this season when closing as a favorite.

Much has been made about the play of rookie quarterback Dak Prescott and rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott, but the Cowboys’ current 10-game SU winning streak has been a total team effort behind an offensive line that has this unit ranked fourth in the league in total yards (407.6) and third in scoring (28.7 points). The defense has carried its weight as well by holding opposing teams to 19.4 points a game.

Minnesota is still trying to regain the form that led to a perfect 5-0 start both SU and ATS. With last Thursday’s 16-13 loss to Detroit as two-point road underdogs, the Vikings are 6-5 on the year (SU and ATS). The total in that game stayed well UNDER the closing 42-point line and it has stayed UNDER in four of their last six games. They come into this matchup at 4-1 ATS in five previous home games this season.

The lack of big-play capability on offense behind quarterback Sam Bradford has Minnesota ranked 24th in the NFL in passing yards per game (223.8) and it has never been able to fill the void left by a season-ending injury to Adrian Peterson as the worst rushing team in the league with just 71.1 yards a game. The Vikings’ defense continues to carry this team and it is now ranked third in yards allowed (307) and second in the NFL in points allowed (17.5).

Dallas at Minnesota Game Betting Trends

  • The Cowboys are 8-1 ATS in their last nine games following a SU win and they are 5-1 ATS in their last six games against the NFC. The total has stayed UNDER in eight of their last 10 games played on the road.
  • The Vikings are 18-7 ATS over their last 25 games including a 7-1 record ATS in their last eight games played at home. The total has stayed UNDER in four of their last six home games.
  • Head-to-head in this conference clash, Minnesota holds a 7-2 SU edge in the last nine meetings and it has gone 8-1 ATS in those nine games against the Cowboys. The total has stayed UNDER in four of the last six meetings in Minnesota.

Dallas Cowboys at Minnesota Vikings Prediction

Dallas has already proven itself to be the best balanced team in the league when it comes to playing all three phases of the game and, with the exception of last week’s tight victory against Washington, it has proven itself to be the best betting team in the NFL as well by consistently covering the spread.

When a team is this hot it really does not make any sense to go against it. There is always a possibility that this could be the week that Dallas stumbles, but I am still going with the Cowboys on the road minus the points as my “best bet” pick for Thursday night.
