The Cleveland Browns head into M&T Bank Stadium this Thursday night in their annual trip to Baltimore to face the Ravens. Kickoff for this AFC North tilt is slated for 8:30 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on the NFL Network.
Cleveland at Baltimore Game Overview
The Browns were expected to be one of the worse teams in the league this season and they have lived up to those predictions with nine straight-up losses in nine games. They have been able to cover the spread twice as underdogs in all nine contests and the total has gone OVER in six of those games. Both covers came on the road in losses to Miami and Tennessee.
The prospect for any kind of turn around gets bleaker and bleaker with every passing game and, in last Sunday’s 35-10 loss to Dallas as a seven-point home underdog, Cleveland managed just 222 yards of total offense. Cody Kessler got the call at quarterback and he completed 19-of-27 attempts for 203 yards, while Duke Johnson Jr. led the team in rushing with 30 yards on five carries. The Browns are ranked 29th in the NFL in scoring with 18.7 points a game and they are giving up 30.3 points on the other side of the ball.
The Ravens have been one of the more puzzling teams this season with a roller-coaster ride to 4-4 SU while going 3-5 ATS. They burst out of the gate to a 3-0 SU start before losing four games in a row. Baltimore may have saved its season with last week’s 21-14 win at home against Pittsburgh as a three-point underdog. It is an even 2-2 ATS at home this season and 2-3 ATS when closing as a favorite. The total has stayed UNDER or ended as a PUSH in four of its last six games.
Credit the play of veteran quarterback Joe Flacco with last Sunday’s huge victory against a bitter division rival. He threw for 241 yards and a score while making the plays when he had to. The Ravens’ running game was still nonexistent with 50 total yards on 29 carries, but Mike Wallace came up big in the passing game with four catches for 124 yards and a score. Baltimore is 26th in the league in scoring with 19.2 points a game; however its defense continues to do its job by holding teams to 19.1 points a game.
