Buffalo Bills at New York Jets Key Injury Concerns
A notable injury concern arose from New York’s defense as Outside Linebacker Avery Williamson who will be gone for all of 2019 due to a torn ACL. Williamson had a career year in 2018-19 when accumulated 80 tackles along with six pass deflections and three sacks.
Buffalo Bills at New York Jets Overview
Buffalo Bills
After making the playoffs in the 2017-18 season, the Bills took a step back in their follow-up posting a 6-10 record to culminate their efforts in the 2018-19 season. The Bills will look to return to pristine defensive form while complementing this endeavor with a revamped rushing attack. In the off-season, Buff City picked up veteran tailback Frank Gore and up-and-comer T.J Yeldon to compliment rookie Half-Back Devin Singletary who broke all kinds of records when he was at Florida Atlantic. The Bills are looking to vie for another wildcard berth in 2019 under the man that got him there in 2017, Head Coach Sean McDermott.
New York Jets
The Jets finished the 2018-19 season with a disheartening 4-12 mark. The resultant win-loss record called for a regime change, and the Jets finally parted ways with skipper Todd Bowles. In comes, Adam Gase. Gase was the former Head Coach of the Miami Dolphins, and he will look to bring his offensive proficiency into Gang Green’s unit which has some toys to play with. Most notably, the Jets landed a huge signing in the off-season when they landed former Pittsburgh Steeler and All-NFL rusher LeVeon Bell who is back in the league after holding out for the entire 2018-19 season.
Reasons to Avoid Buffalo
The Bills have been a cash cow dating back to last season as they have now covered six contests in a row. Most recently in pre-season action, we saw the Bills priced identically to where they are now and producing a 27-23 upset of Minnesota as a three-point dog. With respect to the underdog dominating in this series combined with Buffalo’s spate of profitability, surely the market would not be giving the Bills away at such a friendly price. Very simply, Buffalo looks too easy here.
Reasons to Back New York
Home field advantage is of the essence here as the Jets will be fueled by their passionate fan base in their opening contest here. With the anticipation and new hope that surrounded New York’s acquisition of Running Back LeVeon Bell in the off-season, the Jets will be looking to make a statement here, and they will have a rocking environment behind them. It is worth noting that Buffalo as a whole in 2018 was just 2-6 SU on the road.
