Point Spread: Chiefs -6

Baltimore Ravens (2-0 SU, 1-1 ATS) vs. Kansas City Chiefs (2-0, 2-0)

It’s the second meeting in a budding quarterback rivalry when Lamar Jackson and his Ravens battle Patrick Mahomes and his Chiefs Sunday afternoon at Arrowhead. These teams met for an overtime thriller last season, and while Kansas City won that game outright, Baltimore covered against the spread. Which way are we going here for our free NFL pick?

NFL Betting Odds

Week 3’s NFL betting odds opened Kansas City at -6 over Baltimore, with an over/under of right around 52. Both those figures were holding steady in the early betting action.

Ravens vs. Chiefs Set-Up

Baltimore is 2-0 on the season, after holding off Arizona last week 23-17. The Ravens drove their opening possession of the game 94 yards to a touchdown, led 17-6 at the half, let the Cardinals get within 20-17 early in the fourth quarter but tacked on a field goal and held on from there.

However, Baltimore came up short ATS as 13-point favorites.

On the day the Ravens out-gained Arizona 440-349, out-rushed the Cardinals 182-20 and dominated time of possession by a 38/22 split.

Baltimore opened its season with that 59-10 mauling of Miami two weeks ago, easily covering as a seven-point favorite.

Kansas City, meanwhile, is also 2-0 this season, after beating the Raiders in Oakland last week 28-10. The Chiefs spotted the Raiders the first 10 points of the game, then scored four touchdowns in the second quarter. The teams then played a scoreless second half, and KC cashed as seven-point chalk.

On the afternoon the Chiefs out-gained the Raiders 464-307 and held a 33/27 advantage in time of possession. Kansas City only produced 21 yards rushing but the Chiefs defense kept Oakland scoreless over its last nine possessions.

KC opened its season with a 40-26 victory at Jacksonville, covering at -3.5.

These teams just met back in Week 14 of last season, a 27-24 Chiefs victory in overtime also at Arrowhead. KC led that game early 7-0, fell behind 24-17 with four minutes left but tied the score at 24-24 with a touchdown with just under a minute to go and won it with a field goal and a defensive stop in OT.

The Chiefs out-gained the Ravens that day 442-321 but couldn’t cover the spread as favorites of 6.5 points. Also, that game played over a total of 49 only thanks to overtime.

Ravens at Chiefs Prediction 09/22/19

These teams played a close one last year, and we expect a close game Sunday. In fact, considering Baltimore owns the better running game and the better defense we won’t be surprised if the Ravens win this one outright. Just to be safe, we’re betting Baltimore plus the points for our free NFL pick.
