2015 NFL Season Win Totals – Betting Picks

BetOnline has released its NFL moneyline odds for the OVER and the UNDER the season win totals for all 32 teams for the 2015/2016 pro football season. The following are a few “best bets” from handicapper David Schwab. Green Bay Packers- 11 Wins (-125 OVER/ -105 UNDER) The betting public has been all over the Packers this offseason to the point where they are now on the top of the list to win Super Bowl 50 at 6/1 betting odds. Green Bay came painfully close last season to making it to the Super Bowl before falling to Seattle 28-22 in the conference title game as an 8.5-point road underdog. As far as betting on the Packers’ projected win total, I would have to lean towards the OVER. This franchise under head coach Mike McCarthy has won at least 11 games in five of his nine seasons at the helm including a 12-4 record last season. Green Bay should once again win the NFC North and all the pieces remain in place for another deep run behind a highly motivated Aaron Rodgers at quarterback. Seattle Seahawks- 11 Wins (-125 OVER/ -105 UNDER) Seattle will be attempting to win its third-straight NFC title, which has never been done since the two leagues (NFL and AFL) merged in 1970. The Seahawks’ defense did take some hits in free agency, but the addition of All-Pro tight end Jimmy Graham should make the league’s 27th-ranked passing offense much better this year. The Seahawks have posted double-digit victories in their last three seasons so cashing-in on this projected win total should come down to one win either way. Outside of the division they will play both the NFC and the AFC North which is no small task. While this adds-up to a play on the UNDER in my book, it is highly likely that this team prop ends-up as a PUSH. Indianapolis Colts- 11 Wins (-130 OVER/+100 UNDER) The betting public has fallen in love with the Colts this offseason by elevating them to 3/1 favorites to win the AFC this season and to 8/1 third-favorites to win Super Bowl 50. This will be Andrew Luck’s fourth season at the helm as quarterback and under his guidance Indianapolis has won 11 games in each of his first three years in the league. Question marks remain with a defense that was ranked 19th in the NFL last season in points allowed, but you have to sense that there will be a changing of the guard in the AFC this year. This would lead me to join the fray and jump on the Indy bandwagon with a play on the OVER in this team prop, especially with no dramatic improvement with any of the other teams in a very weak AFC South. New England Patriots- 10.5 Wins (-125 OVER/-105 UNDER) The Patriots have been the model of consistency ever since Bill Belichick became the team’s head coach in 2000 and if you go back to 2003 they have now posted double-digit wins in each of their last 12 regular seasons. The only reason New England’s win total is not even higher is quarterback Tom Brady’s impending suspension for the first four regular season games. Those first four games are against Pittsburgh and Jacksonville at home and Buffalo and Dallas on the road so a 2-2 start or even worse is entirely possible. Even with a shaky start I would still have to go with the OVER in this team prop given just how well New England has played in the past with its back against the wall.
