AFC Conference Future
The Kansas City Chiefs reign as kings of the American Football Conference, with six straight conference championship game appearances and four conference championships. Not to mention, they have three Super Bowl titles.
The Chiefs will chase NFL history this season as they quest to become the first team to win three straight Super Bowls. As July training camps approached, Kansas City topped the betting on FanDuel’s AFC championship board at +370.
But who are the most likely candidates to dethrone KC in the AFC?
The Baltimore Ravens were actually the best team in the AFC during the regular season last year, winning 13 games, most in convincing fashion, and earning the top seed for the conference playoffs. However, another bafflingly disappointing performance in a home playoff game dropped the Ravens to 2-4 in the postseason with MVP Lamar Jackson at quarterback.
Still, Baltimore stands as a very legitimate threat to Kansas City’s throne. FanDuel ranks the Ravens as the second choice on its AFC championship board at +490.
After reaching the AFC championship game twice in a row—winning in 2021 and losing in 2022—the Cincinnati Bengals came up short of the playoffs last season. Heading into this season, hoping for a fully healthy campaign from QB Joe Burrow, the Bengals were catching +700 to win the AFC at Bet365.
The Buffalo Bills own a five-season playoff streak but have just one AFC championship game appearance over that span, a loss to Kansas City in 2020. Now, Buffalo moves forward without WR Stefon Diggs, getting +700 on Bet365’s AFC board.
And the Houston Texans, who sprang up from nearly nowhere last season to win a division title and a playoff game, were lined at +850 to win the AFC at FanDuel.
Next Tier of Contenders
The next tier in the AFC betting includes the high-scoring Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets, hoping to get more than four plays from QB Aaron Rodgers, catching +1200 and +1300, respectively, at FanDuel.
