Rose Bowl Betting Preview
Wisconsin played over its regular-season wins total this year, which was eight, by going 10-2 and winning the Big Ten West. The Badgers then led Ohio State in the Big Ten championship game 21-7 at the half but pissed it away from there and lost 34-21.
Nonetheless, Wisconsin is back in a bowl for the 18th straight season.
The Badgers opened this season 6-0, with a rousing win over Michigan and four shutouts. But Wisconsin then suffered a terrible loss at Illinois, blowing a 13-point second-half lead, falling on a field goal at the buzzer. Bucky then got a slap in the face from reality, losing 38-7 at Ohio State. But Wisconsin then won its last four games, beating Iowa and Minnesota to secure the division title, but couldn’t beat the Buckeyes in that conference title tilt.
On the whole, Wisconsin played what Sagarin at USAToday.com calls the 21st-toughest schedule in college football this season.

Oregon, meanwhile, also played over its wins over/under for this regular season, which was 8.5, by also going 10-2 and winning the Pac-12 North. The Ducks then put on one of their best performances of the year in beating favored Utah 37-15 in the Pac-12 championship game.
So Oregon is back in a bowl for the third straight season.
The Ducks opened this season by blowing a late lead and losing to Auburn 27-21, then won nine in a row, knocking off Cal, Washington, Washington State, and USC along the way. But a 31-28 loss at Arizona dashed any hopes the Ducks had of making the College Football Playoff. Oregon then finished with another Civil War win over rival Oregon State, then dominated the Utes in that Pac-12 title contest.
Sagarin says the Ducks played the 38th-toughest schedule this season.
Wisconsin, as usual, moves the ball mainly on the ground, averaging 241 yards per game rushing this season. And the Badgers defense ranks eighth in the country, holding opponents to 295 YPG.
Oregon, meanwhile, is powered mainly by the arm of quarterback Justin Herbert, although the Ducks also averaged 186 YPG on the ground. And the Oregon defense ranks 24th, holding foes to 331 YPG.
This game is one of three Big Ten-Pac 12 bowl match-ups this season. In the first, Iowa drubbed USC in the Holiday Bowl last Friday 49-24, while Cal is favored by 6.5 points over Illinois for Monday’s Redbox Bowl.
The Badgers and Ducks last met back in the 2012 Rose Bowl, a wild 45-38 Oregon victory.
