The Washington Huskies will host the Stanford Cardinal in a key Pac-12 battle on Saturday night. Washington Offense Struggling
Washington came into the season with two Heisman Trophy contenders on offense, but their offense has been struggling of late. Quarterback Jake Browning and running back Myles Gaskin were supposed to lead Washington to the playoffs this season, but both players have struggled. The Huskies managed just 10 points in their loss to California a week ago, and Browning was benched in the third quarter of that game. Washington will need to find offense if they are going to top Stanford.
The Huskies defense continues to play at a very high level and were great in their loss to California. Washington has given up just 15.2 points per game this season, which is the 8th best scoring average in college football. The Huskies have given up just a combined 25 points in their last two games, but their offense has let them down.
Costello Leading Stanford
Running back Bryce Love was supposed to be the offensive star for Stanford this season, but it has been quarterback KJ Costello leading the way. Costello has thrown for over 2,100 yards this season and has thrown an impressive 17 touchdown passes. Love has been battling injuries all season and has managed to gain just 419 yards on the ground this season. The Cardinal will need a balanced offensive attack against Washington on Saturday.
While the Stanford offense has improved this season, the defense has taken a step back. Stanford is giving up 23.3 points per game this season, which is the 43rd best mark in the nation. The Cardinal have given up an average of 40 points per game in their three losses this season. Stanford catches a big break in this game as the Washington offense is out of sorts.
