The South Alabama Jaguars (1-8) will host the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns (7-2) for a Sun Belt Conference clash on Saturday, November 9th, 2019. Kick-off is scheduled for 5:00 PM ET and will be broadcasted on ESPNU. Louisiana-Lafayette has won the last three meetings between these two sides. The Ragin’ Cajuns hosted South Alabama in Lafayette when the two last met in November of 2018. ULL would get some resistance from USA defeating the Jags 48-38, failing to cover as a 19-point favorite.

The Ragin’ Cajuns continue to roll as they have now won and covered in three consecutive games since their sole defeat in conference play against App State on October 9th that failed to see ULL cover as a 1.5-point choice. The Cajuns were most recently in action on Saturday when it traveled to Conway, South Carolina, to face off with the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers at the fabled Surf Turf. Closing as a 14-point favorite, Louisiana-Lafayette covered easily when it routed CC by a score of 48-7.

The Jaguars step into this game off a bitter 30-28 loss suffered on the road against the Texas State Bobcats. Closing as a seven-point underdog, the Jags were able to take their takers to the window in their second consecutive cover. However, USA remains winless since its sole victory on September 7th this season over FCS Jacksonville State.
Reasons To Avoid Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns
The Ragin’ Cajuns’ are going to be subjected to laying lofty lines such as these, perhaps for the rest of their regular season campaign given the perceived trough in quality between them and their opposition down the stretch. It seems quite evident that ULL is on a trajectory to the Sun Belt Championship, and they have pretty much pummeled everything they have come across on their way in the SBC with the exception of their aforementioned loss to Appalachian State. However, ULL could very well be in for a match here as the Jags know they can play with the Cajuns. After all, the last five meetings between both parties were settled by 10 points or less. This renders Louisiana vulnerable to laying way too many points to a potentially highly-motivated live dog.
Reasons To Back South Alabama Jaguars
We saw this team priced at an identical number against a team that is superior to UL-Lafayette in terms of quality. That team was Appalachian State when the Jags hosted the Mountaineers on October 26th. We were on-board the Jaguars in that market targeting an overlay and were the benefactors of a seeing-eye cover. It is worth annotating that South Alabama was in a position to cover throughout all of the game and never trailed by more than 27, at any point. In addition to this narrative, USA just saw itself meet a new high in scoring on the season against Texas State and undoubtedly will take these lessons learned with them into this tilt. The Jaguars may have also found a second wind as a result, and they could very well enter into this game with a chip on their shoulder in response to last week’s close loss. This makes South Alabama especially dangerous with an enhanced allotment of points.
