Liberty Flames at Army West Point Black Knights Overview
Liberty Flames
The Flames made their debut on the FBS circuit last week, and they did it with style. As a five-point underdog, Liberty thrashed visiting Old Dominion by a score of 52-10. Coach Turner Gill has consistently propelled this program forward, most notably from its point of ignition in 2017 where it defeated Baylor on the road in what was a historic upset. Liberty was granted 30-plus points in the aforementioned fixture.
Army West Point Black Knights
Last year, Army football took a step forward when it won 10 games for the first time in two decades. In doing so, the Black Knights capped off their monumental season with a Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy and a thrilling 42-35 victory in the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl over Mountain West stalwart San Diego State. 2018 started on a far different note as Army was defeated by Duke 34-14 in their opener.
Reasons To Back Liberty Flames
Prejudices and biases will continue to be yielded against the Flames by virtue of the fact they are the new kid on the FBS block. Until the market catches up to Liberty, they will continue to take back more points than they require in many instances. Though the victory in Lynchburg should have been sufficient enough to impel such a phenomenon, it is clear that reluctance is still manifesting across the board. Liberty’s victory very simply may have been classed as a one-off from public vantage which once again allows us to get a team at a better price than advertised.
Reasons To Avoid Army West Point
How Army responds to the crushing loss at Duke remains to be seen. Outside of their early-season loss to Ohio State last season, the Black Knights lost their remaining two games by a combined margin of just a touchdown. Duke however wholly undermined the Black Knights game plan. Though Army controlled possession, Duke capitalized on Army turnovers and averaged 11.9 yards through the air to manufacture scoring opportunities. Very simply, Army was outplayed and has to regroup against a football team that will be coming in soaring. A lot of risks involved in spotting points, to boot.
