Season Overview
After winning back-to-back national titles in 2021-22, the Georgia Bulldogs came up one tough loss short of reaching the College Football Playoff last season. Georgia finished at No. 3 and 4 in the polls last year, and they’ll probably go off at No. 1 this season.
A tough hurdle for the Bulldogs will be a schedule that includes Clemson and road games at Alabama, Texas, and Ole Miss.

Georgia returns 14 starters this season from a team that suffered just one loss last year, a three-point decision to Alabama in the SEC championship game. Seven starters are back on an offense that averaged 497 yards per game last year, including QB Carson Beck (13-1 as a starter) and four along the offensive line. Seven starters are also back on a defense that held opponents to 289 YPG last season, including five of the front seven.
The Bulldogs open this season with a “neutral” site game against Clemson; early lines list UGA at -11.5 over the Tigers. A month later, Georgia visits Tuscaloosa but gets a bye week to prepare. The Crimson Tide are going through a transition this season under a new coaching regime. Later, the ‘Dawgs play at Texas, which is now a conference game, and at Ole Miss, which looks like it has a pretty good team.
Georgia’s record is 42-2 over the last three seasons (23-20 ATS), and it’s probably the best team in the country heading into this season, but two losses against a top-10 schedule aren’t difficult to fathom.
