But they’ve taken advantage of a good draw to reach this Sweet 16, beating inconsistent Wisconsin in the first round 72-54 and No. 13 seed UC Irvine last Sunday 73-54.
Oregon pulled away from the Badgers late to win outright as a two-point dog, then did the same thing against the Anteaters and covered as a five-point favorite.
The Ducks’ winning streak, extending back to the last four games of the regular season, now sits at 10, and that includes a 10-0 run ATS.
No. 1 seed Virginia (31-3 SU, 24-10 ATS) tied for the ACC’s regular-season title, going 16-2 in conference play. The Cavs then fell to Florida State in the semifinals of the ACC tournament. And Virginia looked terrible in its first-round NCAA tournament game against Gardner-Webb, bringing back awful memories of last March. But the Cavs came back to beat the Bulldogs 71-56, then stifled Oklahoma Sunday 63-51.
Virginia trailed G-W by 14 points in the first half, then led by 21 with three minutes to go, but came up short ATS at -23. The Cavaliers then led the Sooners by double digits for almost the entire second half and covered at -10.
