Seton Hall Pirates at Grand Canyon Antelopes Overview
Seton Hall Pirates
The Pirates come into this contest on a two-game losing streak when they were defeated at home five days ago by the visiting Saint Louis Billikens by a score of 66-64 despite closing as a 5.5-point favorite. The Billikens hit an exceptional 62.5% of their three-point field goals despite making nine fewer attempts than Seton Hall serving as the ultimate difference maker in the game.
Grand Canyon Antelopes
The Antelopes have won three games straight after losing their opener against prominent mid-major San Diego State where the Antelopes gave the Aztecs, a fight. Most recently, GCU dismantled Arkansas State 96-72, six days ago at home in Phoenix. The Lopes are enjoying their second year as a full member of Division 1 after four years of probation due to their transitional period from the promotion.
Reasons To Back Grand Canyon
There are many reasons to back the Lopes, here. First, they are one of the most physical teams in all of the country on the boards as they produce a 15th-ranked 44.8 offensive rebounds per game which have led to GCU wearing teams down and blowing them out. Secondly, this team has produced ensembles in year’s past readily capable of winning the Western Athletic Conference and appearing in the annual Men’s Basketball Tournament. Unfortunately, the Lopes’ transitional period stood in their way and rendered them nothing more than a tough scrimmage. However, that has changed now, and this team has something to prove against a Seton Hall outfit that qualified for the big dance last year.
Reasons To Avoid Seton Hall
On the contrary, Seton Hall will likely lack motivation compared to their counterparts. This is not by any means the most significant game that the Pirates have played recently nor is it the biggest game they will likely play this season. Seton Hall will probably be more concerned about being 2,000-plus miles away from home and longing to be back in Newark with their families for Thanksgiving. This is a prime letdown spot for a more recognized program like the Pirates against a small market team such as GCU. In addition to this narrative, Hall is also ranked 251st in defensive rebounds (34.0 per game) which means there is a big mismatch in the physicality department and more chances for the Lopes to strike.
