San Francisco Betting Preview
USF advanced to this WCC tournament semi-final by beating BYU in a quarter-final match Saturday 75-63. The Dons took a 20-17 lead late in the first half and never trailed from there. San Francisco went up by double-digits midway through the second half, let the Cougars get within eight with four minutes left but hung on for the win and the cover as a 3.5-point favorite.
The Dons only shot 43 percent from the floor Saturday but held BYU to just 38 percent FG shooting, out-rebounded the Cougars 41-37, and won the turnover battle 11-8.
San Francisco won its regular-season finale, 78-62 over San Diego to finish 10-6 in WCC play. And at 24-8 overall, the Dons appear on the verge of making the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1998.
Gonzaga Betting Preview
The Bulldogs, meanwhile, are playing their first game since they lost their meaningless regular-season finale to St. Mary’s nine days ago 67-57. Gonzaga, which had already clinched the WCC regular-season title, fell down to the
Gaels 8-0 out of the gate and trailed 36-21 at the half. The Zags then fell by 16 midway through the second half, got within 57-50 late but could get no closer in a puzzlingly poor performance.
Gonzaga shot just 37 percent from the field that night and just basically got out-played.
Prior to that, though, the Zags won 17 games in a row, 16 by at least 14 points.
At 24-3 overall, Gonzaga is trying to lock down one of the No. 1 seeds for the upcoming NCAA tournament.
