The Missouri Tigers (0-0) host the Iowa State Cyclones in a non-conference game that will take place at the Mizzou Arena in Columbia, Missouri at 9 PM ET. Missouri are the 5.5-point home favorite with the total posted at 153 points.
This is the opening game for both teams and last season Iowa State was 24-11 and Missouri was 8-24.
Iowa State had a solid team last season, but this one is a whole new one, as only one starter returns and only three players return overall. Solomon Young started 12 games at the end of last season and averaged 4.4 ppg and 3.4 rpg. One of the new players is UTSA transfer Jeff Beverly, who averaged 15.8 ppg and 5.9 rpg. Senior G Donovan Jackson returns and the team is very high on highly touted freshman Lindell Wigginton.
Last season was a terrible one for Missouri, but they have high hopes this season since they landed the nation’s top recruit in Michael Porter Jr. Besides him the Tigers had a very solid recruiting class and the three players that averaged in double figures for them last season return in Jordan Barnett, Kevin Puryear, and Terrence Phillips. Expectations are high for Mizzou this season mainly because of Porter Jr.
Last season Iowa State ranked 25th in the nation in ppg and 170th in opponents’ ppg and Missouri ranked 189th in ppg and 111th in opponents’ ppg.
This is the first meeting of these teams since the 2012 season. Missouri has won their last nine games against Iowa State dating back to when they were in the same conference.
Last season Iowa State was 19-13 ATS with an O/U record of 20-12 and Missouri was 13-14-2 ATS with an O/U record of 16-13.
