The Detroit Pistons (18-24) and the Orlando Magic (19-24) will face off in an Eastern Conference clash in the Motor City. The tip is set for 7:00 PM ET and will be televised on FSN. Orlando has won three of the last four meetings between both parties. The two teams last met at the end of 2018 on December 30th when the Magic hosted the Pistons and defeated them 109-107 to cover narrowly as a 1.5-point favorite.
Orlando Magic at Detroit Pistons Overview
Orlando Magic
The Magic enter off back-to-back marquee wins at home against both the Boston Celtics and Houston Rockets as seven-point and five-point underdogs, respectively. The most recent victory was against the Rockets on Sunday when they pulled a 116-109 win.
Detroit Pistons
Unlike their counterparts, the Pistons have struggled mightily as of late as they have gone 1-5 SU over their last six outings. Presently, Detroit has covered in their previous two outings. Most recently, the Pistons fell on the road to the Utah Jazz on Monday night when they were defeated 100-94 as a 7.5-point underdog.
Reasons To Back Orlando
Despite Orlando being in a prime position for an overreaction given their recent portfolio of work, the opposite has been the case. Much of this can be attested to Orlando’s poor road record of 7-13 SU. However, Orlando owns virtually every advantage imaginable in this contest outside of scoring offense (Orlando averages 103.3 points per game compared to Detroit’s 106.6 points per contest) and rebounding. However, Orlando’s plays sounder defense (107.2 points against per game to Detroit’s 109.5 points against per contest), commits fewer turnovers, and owns a deeper bench which are all the ingredients needed for Orlando to pull an upset.
Reasons To Back Detroit
Detroit’s two selling points are the location of the contest which plays against Orlando and the presence of a stellar frontcourt consisting of Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond. The fact remains however that both are overstated as the Pistons are one game over .500 at home (11-10) and they are playing sub .500 basketball with two of the best at their respective positions. Against the spread, Orlando is 10-10 on the road while the Pistons have been overvalued on their own court with an 8-12 ATS record. This spot is another situation where Detroit may find itself subjected to an overlay.
