Detroit Pistons at Philadelphia 76ers Pick

By Keith F

The Detroit Pistons (20-45) and the Philadelphia 76ers (38-26) will lock horns for an Eastern Conference collision on Wednesday, March 11th, 2020. The Sixers will curate hosting activities as they welcome the Motor City Madmen to the City of Brotherly Love for a 7:00 PM tip-off time. The festivities will be televised on FSN. Philly has dominated this series as of late, coming into this tilt on a five-game winning streak against Detroit. While doing so, the Sixers were also “cash money” every step of the way, covering in all five victories. The Pistons and 76ers last met in December in Motown, where the Sixers cruised to a 125-109 win to cover easily as a 6.5-point favorite.

Detroit Pistons at Philadelphia 76ers Injury Concerns

The biggest question mark (no pun intended) surrounds the status of Philadelphia Center Joel Embiid, who is listed as questionable for this contest as he recovers from a shoulder injury. This doesn’t help matters with Sixers Guard Ben Simmons absent with a pinched nerve in his back. A notable injury that is well documented includes Pistons Forward Blake Griffin, who went down in January with a knee injury.

Detroit Pistons at Philadelphia 76ers Overview

Detroit Pistons

The Pistons into this game in poor form overall, dropping their last four. Most recently, Detroit was in action on Sunday against the New York Knicks in the Big Apple, where they fell 96-84. The Pistons failed to cover priced as a 5.5-point underdog at the tip. The ATS loss ended a four-game cover streak for the Pistons.

Philadelphia 76ers

The Sixers enter into this game on the heels of a shocking loss at the hands of the Golden State Warriors who took on hosting duties on Saturday, the last time Philly was on the hardwood. The Sixers fell 118-114 despite being favored by four points at the market’s close. Overall, Philly is 1-3 SU in their previous four while posting a 2-2 ATS record in this span.

Reasons To Back Detroit

The Pistons have failed to cover in their last four meetings in Philadelphia. As a result, the market will likely offer more points with the Pistons here to enchant action on the Pistons. More likely than not, backing Philly here also plays into the house’s hands, but we’ll cover that more in our take in why to avoid the Sixers. Nevertheless, with key players on both teams nicked up, bench play will likely be instrumental in this contest. With respect to this narrative, Detroit bodes an edge in the bench department. Even if this game were to get out of hand, there is significant backdoor potential, as well should Philly elect to call off the dogs and preserve their talent. Either way you slice it, the Pistons offer equity here.

Reasons To Avoid Philadelphia

When one gets behind the Sixers in this spot, they are almost certainly paying a premium to do so. This can be chalked up to Philly being dominant on their own floor this season with just two losses in the City of Brotherly Love (28-2 SU at home) combined with their supremacy in this series. I am hard-pressed to advise laying likely inflated points, especially with Philly working with injuries to key personnel.
