Matt Kenseth stayed hot heading into the Chase with a victory last week at Richmond. Kyle Busch ended-up second and Joey Logano finished third. I went with Denny Hamlin as my top valued favorite for this race at +1000 betting odds and he made a decent run at a checkered flag with a sixth-place finish.
Denny Hamlin punched the first ticket to the next round of this season’s Sprint Cup Chase with a victory last week at Chicago. Carl Edwards finished in second place and Kurt Busch took third. I went with Jimmie Johnson as my top valued favorite for this race at +1200 betting odds and he started his Chase with an 11th-place finish at Chicago.
The following is a look at a few of the top favorites to win this Sunday’s Sprint Cup race along with my top value pick based on betting odds provided by TopBet.
The pressure has been dialed-up on 2014 Sprint Cup Champ Kevin Harvick after falling all the way to 42nd last week at Chicago in one of his worst races of the year. Behind the wheel of the No. 4 car, he has been opened as +450 favorite to redeem himself with a win this Sunday. This team won twice early in the season and it has been in the mix all year long with another 16 Top 5 finishes, but it is now in serious danger of being eliminated from the title Chase without a win or at the very least a very strong run in this race. Harvick has finished third in his last two races at New Hampshire.
Brad Keselowski fell back to eighth in last week’s race, but he still remains in good shape to advance to the next round with another good effort on Sunday. A win this week as one of two +500 second-favorites would lock-up a spot, but the No. 2 car has only crossed the finish line once this season in a point race. Keselowski almost made his way to Victory Lane on this track in the first race this season with a second-place finish. Last year he won the first race here and followed that up with a seventh-place finish in this event so his current form at New Hampshire remains strong.
The other second-favorite at +500 to win this week is Kyle Busch. He was in great position to notch that all-important Chase race victory last week in Chicago after leading the race for 121 laps, but he faded down the stretch to finish ninth after starting seventh. The No. 18 car had an incredible run in late June and early July with four point-race victories in five races. With Busch behind the wheel, this team has posted six Top Five finishes in the 16 races he has run. Adding some solid value to these odds is the fact that one of those wins came on this track.
