Quaker State 400 Top Value Bets
Last Saturday night’s Coke Zero Sugar 400 was delayed until Sunday afternoon due to rain. Justin Haley made the most of the situation in Sunday’s rain-shortened race as a huge longshot by posting his first career Cup Series win. William Byron finished second as another driver at long odds following by Jimmie Johnson’s best effort this season in third place.
Based on NASCAR’s futures odds to win this Saturday night race in Kentucky at 5Dimes online sportsbook, the following three drivers offer the best betting value on the board.

Quaker State 400 Top Favorite – Martin Truex Jr. +380
Truex is tied with Kyle Busch atop the Cup Series leaderboard in point-race victories this season with four. He drops to fifth in the current standings with 597 total points, but his place in this year’s 10-race playoff is set in stone. The No. 19 Toyota race team has posted a total of 11 finishes inside the top 10 through the first 18 Cup Series events this season. The most recent victory was on the road course at Sonoma back in June. Truex slipped to 22nd this past Sunday in the rain at Daytona.
As the top-favorite to win this week’s race, I decided to go chalk, given his back-to-back victories in this race that past two seasons. Truex knows he has an excellent chance to get that fifth checkered flag on Saturday night with a threepeat in Kentucky.
Quaker State 400 Top Contender – Chase Elliott +1100
In his fourth full-time season of Cup Series racing, Elliott won earlier this season at Talladega. A wreck at Daytona ended his day early with a fade to 35th in the final running order. The No. 9 Chevrolet has had its issues lately with four-straight runs outside the top 10. However, this could be the week that this team gets back on track, after placing inside the top five in five-straight events starting its only Cup Series win of the year. For all of his efforts, Elliott has his team in seventh place in the current standings with 585 total points. Despite the up and down results over the past 10 races or so, there is quite a bit of value in this week’s long odds.
This will be his fourth career run at Kentucky with mixed results. Last season, he ended up 13th after starting 16th in a rather forgettable run. The previous season, Elliott was right in the thick of things with a third-place finish after starting 12th.
Quaker State 400 Top Longshot – Ryan Blaney +2200
I have gone with Blaney a number of times this season as a top-value longshot, and I really like his chances to make a strong run at the checkered flag this Saturday night. He has been in the thick of things a few times this season with five Top 5 runs. A wreck also ended his day early at Daytona coming off a third-place finish at Sonoma and a sixth-place effort in Chicago. The No. 12 Ford racing team is holding down 11th place in the standings with 508 to add some more pressure to get that first win of the year.
Most of the value in Blaney’s odds lie in last season’s second-place effort at Kentucky. This will be his fourth trip around this track in a Cup Series event, and he is moving in the right direction after finishing 10th here in 2017.
